Tell Us a little bit about yourself

Hi my name is Hudson Bair and I am a third year Agricultural Systems Management major. I am from Grimes and really enjoy Snowmobiling, Off-Roading, and camping. I am involved in several clubs at my college of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo including the tractor pull and agricultural engineering society. In the future I plan to become a high school Agriculture Shop teacher and help teach skills to the generation of students. Over the past two years I have worked as a swim instructor and a ParaEducator at the elementary school level where I have been in charge of building my own lesson plans and managing disciplinary issues. In addition I have worked as an Intern at a Engineering Firm where I was in charge of organizing and collecting information as well as developing flood emergency response plans. This summer I plan to work as an engineering intern.

Share a story about a family memory from time spent in La Porte.

One of my favorite family memories in La Porte is my first time going to our cabin in the snow. The first time I went to our cabin in the snow was last year during Christmas time. Me and my family had invited some friends up to the cabin and we were all learning to snowmobile for the first time. After snowmobiling to our cabin we still had some time for the day and me and my friends were excited to keep snowmobiling so we decided to go snowmobiling in the parking lot below Silvertip where we had seen tons of fresh powder. When we got there the parking lot was untouched. We began to just make laps going further and further into the powder hoping not to get stuck each time. As we continued we grew more and more tired dulling our reactions each time until finally one of us got stuck. As soon as we saw that one of us got stuck, we laughed a little and began to help them get unstuck lifting and shoveling until they were free. After that we were all exhausted, so we rode back up to our cabin where we played board games and continued to enjoy the holiday spirit. The fun in La Porte doesn’t stop until your head finally hits the pillow.

What is your educational plan for the future?

I’m on schedule to graduate for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in June of 2025 with my bachelor's degree in Agricultural Systems Management but plan on applying for a master's program at Cal Poly in order to get my teaching credential.
